Terry Butcher insists he would not be opposed to seeing Kris Boyd playing for Scotland again. The Rangers striker made himself unavailable for selection in October after growing increasingly frustrated at a lack of action under national coach George Burley. The powerful front-man then claimed that he would remain in the international wilderness for as long as the current management team are in place. However, having scored 18 goals for the Gers this term, there are calls for Burley to end the feud and reinstate the talented 25-year-old. Butcher certainly feels reconciliation may be possible, but admits that there is little he can do to resolve the matter. Choices "The situation is that he doesn't want to play for George Burley. That situation hasn't changed as far as we are concerned," he said. "If he made a phone call and decided to go about things in a different way and wanted to play, that's up to him and George. I can't speak for them. "Sometimes you need second chances. I've had third, fourth, fifth chances. Who's to say? But it's not my decision." Asked whether Burley would be prepared to make the first move, Butcher added: "I can't speak for George. That's his choice. I just want to see Scottish players doing well." Response Boyd has been in sparkling form domestically since announcing his self-imposed exile, with Butcher of the belief that the striker is keen to prove a point to those he feels wronged by. He said: "If you have a personal cause, that can make you play better and give you the incentive to do even better. Kris has had that. "A lot of people asked how he would respond and he has responded very well. "A lot of the players have said they are seeing a different Kris Boyd in the way that he runs around and contributes to the general play, which is fantastic."
